    Dear SICAMM supporter,

Our general meeting will take place at the forthcoming conference in Llangollen. At this, all committee members will resign their posts, but can be re-elected to the same or other positions. Most importantly, it offers those supporters who are not currently involved, to put themselves forward for election, or to give others an opportunity to take part in Dark Bee conservation activities at an international level.

I will definitely be stepping down as President on this occasion, as I had a health scare earlier this year and for medical reasons I must now adopt a less stressful lifestyle. It is very important therefore, that we elect a competent new President. The most important duty of the President is to oversee organisation of the biennial conference. This necessitates diplomacy, imagination, hard work, awareness of the strengths of workers in other countries as well as their own and the ability to communicate.

The role of Vice President is less well defined, but in general he or she supports the President and is there to step in to replace him or her, should that need arise.

The post of Secretary General is also of great importance and in recent years has merged with the role of Webmaster. So anyone taking on this duty will need familiarity with the management of a web site, or the willingness to learn. A facility in English and other European languages is also a great advantage.

The principle duties of other committee members are to form links with other countries, to report back to the wider membership on activities there and to spread the SICAMM philosophy of Dark Bee conservation in their own areas.

The current members of the committee, with the dates of their election are:

    Executive Commitee:

    President: Dr. Dorian Pritchard, UK 2006, re-elected 2009, 2012
Vice President: Per Thunman, Sweden , elected 2012
Secretary General: Philip Denwood, UK 2009, re-elected 2012
    Other members:
Vincent Bondois, France , elected 2012
    Maria Anna Budzynska-Bu, Norway 2006, re-elected 2012
    Bożena Chuda-Mickiewicz, Poland 2006, re-elected 2012
    Balser Fried, Switzerland 2006, re-elected 2012
    Lassi Kauko, Finland 2006, re-elected 2012
Eoghan Mac Giolla Coda, Irish Republic , elected 2012
Christian Seyfferth, Germany , elected 2012

Please spend some time thinking about who you would like your officers and other representatives to be and send your nominations, preferably seconded and with confirmation of the agreement of your nominee to Philip Denwood, in good time for the meeting.

Another important function of the General Meeting is to initiate moves toward the next major conference. If you are prepared to invite the SICAMM conference to your country, or have other good suggestions, please send those also to Philip at philipdenwood@yahoo.co.uk .

    Thank you.

    Yours sincerely,
    Dorian Pritchard
    President of SICAMM
