    Hi,

I'm searching for a beekeeping webshop where I can buy 3 frames mating nucs of miniplus size? I have found 1 so far, but they’re like €75 each, that's to much. I can't make them myself, I don't have the space, equipment and knowledge. (I don't know why it's so hard to find 3 frames mating nucs of miniplus size, because miniplus is used a lot for P-queens.)

Does anybody know a webshop where I can buy these for a fair price?

    Mathijs

Thanks, I think this is from that 3 waben miniplus beute topic. I thought that was someone idea, but didn't knew you can buy it. But almost 30 Euro is still expensive for such a hive. I have to think about it or there should be another webshop. Can't imange they're so hard to find.

How many hives do you need?

Also if you want, you can go with a normal 6 frane M+ and use the bottom board from Gemerott and divide it into 2 3 comb hives, or just use a normal 6 frame M+ and shrink it down with a follower board. If the hive expands just remove the board, if you requeen just leavr it in place. Also gives you a lot if space for placing fondant.

    Hi Mathijs

the new "3 Waben miniplus Hive" from Walter Janisch is a test project . The "3 Waben miniplus Hive" was a custom built for some beekepers. A cheap solution is to split a normal Miniplus hive into 2 parts ... Best regards Jens

Robirot, thanks that's look ok! I think I will buy them.

    Also thanks Honeybee75.

The thing why it frustrated me is from kieler or apidea to a 6 frame nuc or a miniplus you have a lot of work to do. For the future I put my P-queens on miniplus to test them, next year they will go to Dutch Simplex or Dadant. But a lot of beekeeper who do the better work with queen rearing work with miniplus. So I don't understand why there are no 3 waben miniplus commercially. I know Geller sells miniplus EWK, but with the schutzhause, they're also very expensive and I don't like EWK.

Mathiijs, I think robirot has the best idea.

Here, in the three borderline area Belgium,'Netherlands and Germany, a lot of bee keeper use Dutch Simplex.

Geller sells them too. I am not so glad with mini plus and I am back to my normal bee hive. Mini Plus is to much work in my opinion.

    Did you check Ligoma?

    https://www.ligoma.de/epages/6453267…oducts/MP_11_00

Or a 4 Quenn Miniplus Hive with 3 frames each:

The reason is easy, 3 frame M+ is quite small, every Mated queen will fill it within days. 6 Comb M+ has a lot of space and allows to keep the queen a couple more days.

The reason to run M+ for queen rearing is, that it is easy to keep queen rearing apart from everything else and don‘t need to take bees from hives of the honey operation.

For M+ you just wait until your wintered M+ raised to 6-8 stories, then splitt them into 10-16 Mating hives and give them a cell. Then in the end of the year, recombine them into 3 stories and winter those. No bees needed from the outside and everything is small.

Also it is good to keep some spare queens on hand.

But if you only need queens for yourself, it‘s not really worth it. Better keep queens in splits and raise new hives. Old hives are just split fully into new hives and the old queen killed. If you need to replace a queen just combine the hive with a split.

But keeping two separate systems only pays if you do a lot. Else go with 6 Frame nuc hives.
